During the Prague Spring in 1968, masses of people protested against the occupation by the Soviet army on Wenceslas Square. In 1989, it was the scene of the Velvet Revolution, which marked the end of the communist regime. Today, Wenceslas Square is one of the largest in Europe and a living artery of the city. Immerse yourself in the whirlwind of shopping and nightlife here. The National Museum, located in an impressive neo-Renaissance building at the head of Wenceslas Square, is definitely worth a visit.

The Old Town Square, with its unique astronomical clock adorning the southern side of the Old Town Hall, is deservedly one of the most visited monuments in the city. The Mánes building, which was built in 1930 and still serves as a popular gallery, is adjacent to the island.
